Final Portfolio | Intro to Graphics

These are various works created in the year long Introduction to Graphics Design class. We used Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign to manipulate, make-up, or recreate different images. Some assignments even included digital photography, where we would have to go out and take our own pictures, depending on the objective of the assignment, then bring them in and arrange or manipulate them.

One of the most difficult things was maybe picking out which colors to use. You don’t want to use colors that will distract from the main message image but at the same time you want to use colors that will attract attention. There are many elements to consider when choosing colors. Another obvious difficult task was coming up with the sketches and designs. Sometimes an idea automatically comes to mind and other times stuck with absolutely no clue what to design. But once an idea pops, they just keep flowing and there’s an endless amount of possible designs. My favorite projects were the typography, where i used the word imagine to recreate John Lennon, and the pop art, where I manipulated and re-colored the image of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. Sometimes there’s a free chance to incorporate things that you personally like into a design. But most of the time, you want to focus on the type of audience (kids, adults, teens, etc.) and what you think they would like and catch their attention in order to have a successful design.
